It is said that when December and January don't produce much winter precipitation, February can be a mess. We went to bed on Monday night January 31st only to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to sleet pounding our windows and much colder air with it...

We woke up to a snow day and about 3-4 inches of sleet and snow on the ground!

Chloe and Mollie now love the winter weather!

The girls' playground in our backyard

The snow drifted on our back doorstep.
The ice wreaked havoc on the areas roads and with all of the Superbowl activities going on in Arlington. The kids in the area had a record 4 days in a row off of school as temperatures remained below freezing for four whole days, not only below freezing, but in the teens overnight with wind chills below 0, unheard of in North Texas!! We loved the family time together! In Texas, they are not prepared for this kind of weather that the temperatures and sun didn't just melt away. What a beautiful mess! We had a scare as one of our pipes had ice in it.. fortunately we got some great advice and it thawed fairly quickly. Whew!
Then, on February 3, overnight into Friday the 4th...

What was supposed to start at 2 a.m. arrived early and coated the area, not just in a dusting as predicted, but rather in about 4-5 inches of snow! We hadn't even gotten rid of the ice!! Can't wait to see this in the morning...

It was so quiet and peaceful as it coated everything in this white blanket...

WOW!!!

Anyone want to go down the slide????

The Superbowl has been the talk of our area since the Dallas Cowboys new stadium was built. This is the first time it has ever been in North Texas, and only 15 minutes East of our town...WOW! So, we went downtown before the game to see what all had been done in Fort Worth to prepare for the BIg Game!!

A little piece of History in the making

Mom and Dad came over, then after the Superbowl was over and Daddy's team, the Packers won, the girls cuddled up to get ready for a normal, non-snow day, though it was raining and the temperature was dropping when we went to bed, can you believe it??
So, school resumed on Monday and was held again on Tuesday, but Tuesday night...

Our winter storm warning turned into a thin freezing rain and sleet layer on the ground and a FIFTH snow day!
